Gabriel Allon visited the convent and Mother Vincenza told him that she remembered Benjamin Stern. She went on to lie about how her order had sheltered Jews looking for assistance during World War II; she showed him the place where she said the Jews lived, but denied having any records of the names of Jews who were saved by her order.
During World War II, the convent hosted a meeting between the [Catholic Church and the Third Reich. A member of the order served the participants and overheard their deliberations. She later created a document that summarized the events of that night.
