Cardinal Marco Brindisi was the secretary of state of the Vatican, making him the senior person in the Curia. He was also the spiritual leader of Crux Vera.
Upon the election of Pope Paul VII, Brindisi referred to him as "Pope Accidental I."
Brindisi celebrated mass for members of Crux Vera and afterward met with Carlo Casagrande and Roberto Pucci.
He ordered the murders of Benjamin Stern, Peter Malone and Gabriel Allon.
Finally, when he realized that his efforts to control the pope had spun pout of control, he ordered Carlo Casagrande to have Paul VII assassinated by Eric Lange.
He was killed in his office by Eric Lange.
